SUMMARY:Book Signing Event
DESCRIPTION:CELEBRATE BARKSDALE BOOK SIGNING DOOM 34 – HOSTED BY MCCARY’S JEWELERS \nRetired U.S. Air Force Colonel and B-52 aviator Trey Morriss\, author of DOOM 34\, will be at McCary’s Jewelers from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday\, October 24\, for a meet-the-author and book-signing event. In DOOM 34\, Morriss provides a firsthand\, behind-the-scenes account of the once-classified\, record-setting 35-hour B-52 mission that helped launch Operation Desert Storm. As the electronic warfare officer aboard the fourth B-52\, call sign DOOM 34\, Morriss and his crew had a front-row seat to one of the most consequential missions in modern military aviation. \nThe memoir takes readers inside the rapid\, high-stakes development of a highly classified and innovative weapon\, as well as the selection and training of untested aviators tasked with executing the once-classified mission. Morriss chronicles the extraordinary preparation\, fast-paced decision-making and physical and mechanical demands that pushed the limits of human endurance and aircraft design. More than a military memoir\, DOOM 34 is a story of leadership\, trust\, teamwork and performance under extraordinary pressure\, lessons Morriss carried throughout more than 31 years of Air Force service and later into the business world. Through the story of this remarkable mission\, Morriss explores what it takes to prepare people for moments they cannot predict\, build teams capable of performing when the stakes are highest and make critical decisions when failure is not an option. \nThe public is invited to meet Morriss\, hear more about his experiences and have a copy of Doom 34 signed during the event at McCary’s Jewelers. Morriss was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base when he flew the historic mission and continues to call the Shreveport-Bossier area home\, making the event an opportunity to share a piece of Barksdale history with the community where his story began. Hosting the event with McCary’s Jewelers is especially meaningful\, bringing together a local military story with a beloved legacy business. Celebrating 85 years in business\, McCary’s has been deeply woven into the fabric of the Shreveport-Bossier community and has long demonstrated its commitment to supporting the military personnel and families who call Barksdale Air Force Base home. The partnership offers an opportunity to celebrate both local history and the enduring connection between Barksdale and the community that surrounds it. \nThe book is available for purchase at McCary’s during the event Saturday\, October 24\, 11am-3pm at 6959 Fern Loop in Shreveport.
